Holiday Gift Guide for the Hair Stylist in Your Life

It’s that time of year already! If you’re anything like me, you’re noticing how proactive everyone else seems to have been this season with their holiday shopping, and panic is setting in. Don’t worry, there’s no need to get frantic just yet. We have over three weeks left to order, which comfortably accounts for any shipping delays. To make things even easier, I’m here to do all of the brainstorming and hours of sifting through online stores for you --at least for those of you that happen to have a hair stylist close to your heart this holiday season.

An edit of highly curated luxuries for the hair stylist on your list.

Dior Nail Glow

There is no greater waste of time and money for a colorist than a professional manicure. I’d give it a good two days maximum before the color is chipped, and your poor cuticles are stained a nice shade of brown (tis the season to go darker!)

Dior Nail Glow is my go-to for a quick and easy way to keep my DIY manicure looking...well, manicured. The polish enhances the natural nail, for a healthy and shiny glow that protects from daily wear and tear.

Invisibobble Hair Ties

Within every hair stylist is an innate fear of rubber bands being used to tie up the hair. You need a hair tie that will not slip, but more importantly, will not damage your strands. The Invisibobble is my favorite coil hair band. They stay put all day without pulling or breaking any hair, no matter how much or little hair you have. Seriously, I wish they would pay me to advertise at this point. Bonus points because they never stretch out!

*When your invisible stops shrinking back to its original size, run it under hot water or the heat of your blow dryer!

Silk Pillow Case

If you haven’t noticed, there’s a strong theme here surrounding maintaining the integrity of the hair. As stylists, no one is more hyper-aware or obsessive of the damage that occurs daily. Silk pillowcases are not only a simple way to protect your strands overnight but are also sure to make you feel luxurious AF. Your hair and skin will see noticeable improvements. Thank me later for this one.

Low Maintenance Styling Products

Do you know what hair stylists find fun? Doing other people’s hair. Do you know what they don’t enjoy? Doing their own hair. While it may seem a little redundant to gift your stylist hair products, I can confidently say we can never have too much dry shampoo. We want our wash and style to last, giving us more time to spend on our clients and less time fussing in the morning. I am also a huge fan of air-dry centric products. These products are applied to damp hair to enhance a natural, beachy wave. Some of my favorites are linked below. Check with your local salons to see if they carry these products first, before ordering online!

On Trend Salon Supplies/Merchandise

I am sure I am not the only stylist guilty of never remembering to put on an apron. But is it that I don’t remember, or that I don’t want to? I cannot even tell you how many articles of clothing I have ruined with bleach. I am afraid to admit that I am pretty sure it is all of them. This can be easily avoided, and having a chic apron makes it that much more appealing to put on. I love the aprons from That Girl That Did Your Hair, and the coordinating capes would complete an Instagram worthy look for you and your client.

Anything Black

When in doubt, any article of black clothing. Seriously, if all else fails just buy some basic black tees. They are a holy grail hair stylist essential. I think I own three versions of an almost identical basic crop top from The Naked Wardrobe, and they’re still crisp after undoubtedly hundreds of wash cycles. If the stylist in your life also has a chronic crop top problem, consider shopping these basics.

Go Green

Money. I mean that we want money.
